ANN LOUISE ROSWALD SPRING SUMMER 2010
'I have gone from saint to whore and back to saint again, all in one lifetime' - Ingrid Bergman
Inspired by Scandinavian icons past and present, Ann Louise Roswald’s Spring 2010 collection combines classic Ingrid Bergman moments, with the complexity of Greta Garbo and the raw sexuality of rock songstress Ida Maria.
Silhouettes are in the main fresh, clean and modern however there is drama with some over exaggerated and extreme shapes. Cut-out detail, concertina’d silk leaf appliqué are combined with chunky Art Deco jewel embellishment take the embroidery work to another level.
The two prints complement each other, the over sized abstract SUMMER ROSE is a work of art in itself, printed onto glossy satin and delicate silk chiffon. Whilst the lazy, painterly WILD ROSE print is in complete contrast, a casual and relaxed design perfect for the easy silk jersey day dresses it decorates.
The woven silk jacquard story is the backbone of the collection, created exclusively in the UK, the fabric is a textured mix of silk with a softy sparkling lurex thread in delicate floral pattern.
Garments are either sleek & sophisticated with neat, nipped in waistlines or fun & flirty adorned with soft, chiffon ruffles, not forgetting the signature tulip dress a timeless classic and wardrobe must have. Sweet 1950’s inspired bubble dresses and short sharp shifts are both functional yet hint of an underlying sexuality.
The three colour stories are bold and clear. CITRUS is midnight blue with flashes of vibrant cherry and lemon zest. BLACK & WHITE is softened with steel grey and tearose, AQUA combines emerald green, cloud blue and dark bitter chocolate.
Knitwear comes in the form of chunky hand knit cotton bobbles, stand alone pieces or casual throw-overs to make even the most formal dress an everyday winner.
